People and businesses around the region are working on solutions to the coronavirus pandemic.

One scientist in Leicester says he's on the verge of a breakthrough in testing. And an intensive care consultant and a medical technology expert in Birmingham have designed a shield to protect health care professionals trying to resuscitate patients.

"Apart from being doctors and nurse, we are sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers. And because of that we have to think of everything. Not only the patient in front of us. But our family at home. A lot of people in worrying about that may not jump in, where normally they would have."
