Friends, family, neighbours, police and the fire brigade gathered outside a care home in Nottinghamshire today - at a safe distance - to sing Happy Birthday to a special resident.

Nancy Martin, who has dementia, turned 104 and has been a resident at Edwinstowe care home since January 2017.

Staff were eager to do something for Nancy, as original plans of meeting family and friends had to be cancelled due to the lockdown.

But thanks to social media, they, along with neighbours, the police, and fire brigade came to wish her well, from a distance.

One nearby resident even offered to play a special trumpet performance of her favourite song.

I thought it was marvellous, they couldnt have done a better job. It's emotional after being locked out for so long . We are thankful its a lovely day and she can be out with all the other residents. The staff here have been brilliant.
