A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run which killed a 15-year-old boy in Derbyshire.

The teenager died after he was knocked off his bike by a car which failed to stop near Risley at 9pm on Saturday (April 25).

Officers were called shortly after to reports that a person had been struck by a vehicle and had been seriously hurt.

The 15-year-old, from Sandiacre, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham but sadly passed away.

The driver did not stop at the scene and it is believed to have drove through Stanton, Ilkeston and Heanor following the incident.

Derbyshire Police has recovered a black Audi A2, believed to havebeen involved in the crash, and this is now being examined byspecialist officers.

The 32-year-old man from Heanor has been released on police bail asinvestigations continue.

Adam's family are being supported by specialist officers.

Officers are still keen to speak to anyone who may have seen avehicle with damage to its front nearside on Saturday evening – inparticular through Risley, Stanton, Ilkeston and Heanor.
