Car showrooms reopen as Covid-19 restrictions are eased

Car showrooms across the Midlands are reopening today as part of wider easing measures of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in England.

Government leaders have stressed social distancing measures must remain in place.

At Trust Group UK in Stourbridge, the majority of cars have been removed from the showroom to allow staff and customers to remain two metres apart. Screens have also been put up on the sales desks.

The Managing Director, Andrew Hockedy, says cars haven't devalued.

Caravan and Motorhome showrooms are also reopening today. Don Amott Leisure Kingdom in Derbyshire is expecting business to be strong with people possibly choosing to holiday closer to home.

Car production fell to its lowest level since the Second World War in April amid plant closures because of the coronavirus crisis, new figures revealed last month.
