A woman and four children have been seriously injured after the car they were travelling in careered off the road and hit a tree in Birmingham.
The crash happened on Belchers Lane in Bordesley Green at around 4.45am this morning (Thursday 6 August).
A boy and a girl were found in a critical condition and were taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital - one with a fractured collar bone. Two other children, both girls, were treated for serious injuries and taken to the same hospital.
The woman, who was driving the car, was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.
The collision was discovered by an ambulance crew, who already had a patient on board. They began treatment while waiting for back up crews to arrive.
Five ambulances, four paramedics and a critical care paramedic and doctor were called to the scene - the first arriving within three minutes.
The patient from the original ambulance that came across the collision continued with their journey.
Around eight police officers are currently examining the area after the silver Ford Fiesta hit a tree and was left crumpled next to Saltley Academy.
