Nottingham Castle are offering free entry this weekend as they celebrate Christmas at the Castle. The event will feature a festive theme and a traditional Christmas gift fair. Visitors can also meet Santa in the Castle’s Bastion (gatehouse) where children will receive a small gift.

Weekend Picks: Winter Wonderfarm

Lower Drayton Farm has transformed its farm into a Winter Wonderfarm and is inviting the whole family for a festive day out.

On arrival children will be presented with a ‘Santa’s little helper passport’ allowing them to take part in a range of festive activities including icing a festive cookie, making a snow flake, taking part in a Christmas quiz, enjoying a festive farm trailer ride and writing their own letter to Santa.

For each complete activity they will gain a stamp in their passport. Children can also visit Father Christmas in his Grotto taking away a small gift and a photo as a token of their visit.

A traditional Victorian Yuletide is coming to Sandwell Park Valley Farm this weekend. There will be festive crafts, gifts, fresh local produce in the farm shop and carols alongside music from the brass and jazz bands. Children can enjoy activities from Punch and Judy, pony cart rides, face painting, street performers and magicians.

Weekend Picks: Donington Christmas Fayre

Donington Park is transformed into a fairy-tale festive scene this weekend to raise money for Nottingham-based children’s charity ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’. The event will feature over 100 stalls selling Christmas arts and crafts gifts, as well as festive food and drink.

Young visitors will have the chance to meet Santa himself and will be taken on an enchanting journey from the Engine Room to Santa’s secret grotto.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting and raising money for such a caring children’s charity and hope to see thousands of people come to Donington Park for our first Christmas Fayre. We’re really hoping to kick start the Christmas celebrations, and the Fayre will have something for all ages.”

Coventry’s Saint Michael’s Singers are hosting their annual Christmas Concert in Coventry City Centre this weekend. There will be music from Eastern Green Junior School, the Cathedral Choristers, the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra and Jaguar Land Rover Band.

“The Cathedral is such a significant building in our city, we thought it would be really special to hold the concert here while raising money for the NSPCC at the same time… There will be a whole range of entertainment to start the festive season”
