Police appeal for missing man

Derbyshire Police are appealing for a man to get in touch after a concerned friend reported him missing.

Robert Allen was last seen in Alvaston on Friday 22 January.

The 47-year-old is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall and slim build.

He has dark hair and a tattoo on his left hand.

Robert was last seen wearing a black top, trainers and light grey bottoms, and often wears tracksuits.

Mr Allen, or anyone who knows of his whereabouts, should call police on 101.

Man sought after Alvaston glassing

Detectives who are investigating a serious assault in Alvaston have issued the name of a man they would like to speak to.

Ryan Doolin, 21, is thought to have been at The Cornishman pub on Holbrook Road in Alvaston when a man was glassed in the face.

The assault happened between midnight and 1.10am on Saturday May 4 when a 44-year-old local man, who had been at a party in the pub, was standing outside the premises.

A man, who was with a group of other people, smashed a glass and pushed it into the victim’s face.

The victim later required multiple stitches to a three-inch cut from the bridge of his nose to under his eye. He also had other less serious facial injuries.

A 50-year-old man has died after a house fire in Derby, over 20 firefighters tackled the blaze in the early hours of this morning.

Despite the man being rescued by firefighters he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital

Despite the man being rescued from the house in Holtlands Drive, Alvaston he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

An investigation into the fire has been launched though it is believed the cause was accidental.

Derbyshire house fire latest

A 50-year-old man has died following a house fire in Derby.

Four crews from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue were sent to a house in Holtlands Drive in Alvaston, Derby, in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters managed to rescue the man from the property but he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

An investigation is taking place but it is believed that the fire was an accident.


Road re-opened after police operation in Alvaston, Derby

A man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the supply of Class A drugs.

Police closed London Road in Alvaston in Derby, after visiting a house at around 12.30pm. A 24-year-old man was arrested and is in police custody.

The road has now been re-opened.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation during the road closure. London Road is a busy street and we closed it in order to maintain public safety while officers were in the area.”
