Rock bottom Coventry City have sacked manager Russell Slade, the League One club have announced.

The Sky Blues are currently 13 points adrift of safety and look set to be relegated.

The club say they will replace Slade "imminently".

Coventry City FC has today parted company with first-team manager Russell Slade, effective immediately.The club would like to wish Russell all the very best for the future.

Coventry City lost at home against Sheffield United in League One tonight, they are in the relegation zone at 21st place in the table.

Billy Sharp, who scored both of United's goals, got the winner in injury time at the end of the game.

Coventry are in the League One relegation zone and have lost their last 6 matches. Fans protested on the pitch against their club's owners Sisu.

Coventry City fans protest ahead of kick off at Ricoh arena

Coventry City fans held a protest outside the Ricoh arena for the owners SISU to put the club up for sale today.

Fans marched from Holbrook Park on Holbrook Lane via Hen Lane to the Ricoh Arena and then assembled at the Jimmy Hill statue.

In a statement Coventry City said they respect the fans' right to express their opinion and that they would encourage them to support the team on the pitch.
