An elderly woman has died in a crash between a car and a skip lorry.
It happened just after 3.30pm on the A529 Market Drayton to Hinstock road at the crossroads for Lightwoods in Shropshire.
Paramedics arrived to find the elderly woman - who was a front seat passenger in the car - in cardiac arrest.
They started life support but they were not able to save her, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
The elderly man who was driving the car suffered serious chest injuries with suspected multiple fractures. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
“The car had suffered significant front and rear damage. The skip lorry had front end damage.
“The driver of the lorry, a man estimated to be in his 50s was out of the vehicle when crews arrived. He had a minor head laceration but did not want to go to hospital.”
A teenage boy from Shropshire has gone missing.
Police are searching for 15-year-old Lewis Foster, who was reported missing from Sundorne Education Centre, Shrewsbury at 9.30am yesterday morning. He is originally from Market Drayton.
Lewis is white, of slim build and around 5ft7ins tall. He has short, platinum blond, wavy hair. He was last seen wearing a rust coloured hooded top, with a grey v neck t-shirt, dark blue jeans and a blue suede 'skater' style shoes.
"Lewis may well have travelled to a secluded location to spend some time on his own, but he is also known to have hitch hiked in the past.
"Both police and Lewis' family are now very keen to establish that he is safe and well."
American popstar Nicole Scherzinger may be in Market Drayton this afternoon, according to the Shropshire Star.
The newspaper is asking readers to keep a look-out for the former Pussycat Doll and X Factor judge.
It is not known why the 36-year-old - who is dating Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton - would be visiting the small market town.
A specialist underwater rescue team from Nottinghamshire has recovered the body of a man from a former quarry site in Ashley near Market Drayton.
His family and friends are being informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detectives have been given more time to question a soldier arrested on suspicion of murdering one of his comrades in Shropshire.
The 23-year-old soldier was arrested at the Ternhill army barracks after Corporal Geoffrey McNeill was found dead on Saturday morning.
Magistrates today granted officers more time to question him. He can now be kept in custody until 11am tomorrow.
Det Insp Steve Tonks issued a fresh appeal for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
He said additional tests were being carried out today to try to determine the cause of death.
