Bus stabbing suspect sectioned

A 22-year-old man that is in police custody on suspicion of murder has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. 16-year-old Christina Edkins was stabbed on a bus on Hagley Road in Birmingham on Thursday morning.

16-year-old girl stabbed on bus named as Christina Edkins

The 16-year-old girl fatally stabbed in Birmingham this morning has been named as Christina Edkins.

Christina was a pupil at Leasowes High School in Halesowen.

Her family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this very difficult time.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested a short while ago near Morrisons supermarket.

Police spotted a man acting suspiciously who fitted the description of the suspect, following a short footchase the man was arrested and is being held on suspicion of murder.
