Sikhs will come together today to celebrate one of the most important days in their faith's calendar.

Vaisakhi marks the formation of the Sikh community in 1699, known as the Khalsa.

In Leicester, the city's Sikh community will be collecting thousands of pounds worth of food to help the poor and mark the festival, when farmers traditionally give thanks for their harvests.

It is being held at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara.
