A 12-year-old boy has died after being hit by a lorry in Walsall this afternoon.
The youngster was in Chester Road, Brownhills, near the Anchor Pub, when the crash happened just before 3.30pm.
Paramedics tried to save him but he had suffered a cardiac arrest in the accident and he died at the scene. The road is still closed.
Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police's Collision Investigation Unit, appealed for any witnesses to come forward with any information which might help the investigation.
This happened at a busy time of day on a busy road and we need anyone who witnessed this tragic incident to call me or one of my team.
The family of the boy are currently being assisted by specialist officers at this sad time.
The 61-year-old lorry driver has spoken to officers and is helping with enquiries.
