Police prepare for EDL and UAF protests in Birmingham

Specialist protest liaison police officers, wearing blue uniforms, will play a huge role in policing the protest marches of the EDL and UAF in Birmingham today.

They will act as the central link between the groups’ leaders and the senior officer overseeing the operation for West Midland Police.

Hundreds of officers are lining the streets this morning in preparation for the arrival of both groups. The protests will take place between 11am and 3pm.
