150 strangers pay tribute to war veteran who died alone

More than a 150 people have attended the funeral of a second world war veteran from Derbyshire, who died with no known relatives. 95-year-old John Kearns from Long Eaton passed away last month, and his neighbours feared they'd be the only ones there to pay their respects.

But today strangers and members of the forces turned up in numbers for the cremation service after an appeal online by the Royal British Legion, so Mr Kearns could have a proper military send off. Chris Halpin reports.
