Jersey 'crapaud' declared a unique new species

It’s been discovered that the Jersey ‘crapaud’ is no ordinary British toad.

New research shows that the island’s icon is actually a distinct new species not found in England.

The revelation was made thanks to conservationists from Jersey and the UK working with scientists in the Netherlands and Portugal.

The new species will now need need tailored conservation to ensure their future survival.
