From our weather presenter Sophia Bird
Liberation Day celebrations are hours away, and whilst there will be many events organised across the islands, the weather may well play a huge part on the day.
The good news is that there will be some dry periods on Saturday, but there is also a set of weak fronts that are going to clip the islands over the next 48 hours and as a result, there will be a little rain or showers at times.
It is still a little uncertain of the exact detail as these fronts delivering the light rain and showers are so weak, so do keep checking the forecasts with Sophia, the website, and you can also follow Sophia on Twitter: @sophiaweather.
What was the weather like on Liberation Day in 1945?
Liberation Day in 1945 was not as sunny or warm as the days running up to the momentous occasion.
Instead it was rather cloudy with a few showers around, and temperatures were about the same as they are now - 15°C in Guernsey and 17.3°C in Jersey. Despite the cloudy morning, it did cheer up and was dry all day.
