End of an era for Reg's Garden

Reg's Garden will no longer be a community attraction from today.

Owner Reg Langlois says the time has come to stop hosting weddings, events and tourists at the space.

I'll miss it like mad. When you get people from all around the world putting the world to rights, it's been a lovely position to be in and I couldn't have asked for better. If I'm making a cup of tea I tend to share a teapot with maybe half a dozen people who have never met before, but they go home the best of pals, meeting up the next day some of them, and I think that is nice!

The garden has been open to the public for 20 years and in the past three years has hosted 16 weddings at the amphitheater.

Around 15,000 people have visited each year and it has always been free of charge.

But despite that, Reg isn't sure why he opened it up in the first place.

There's an awful lot of people out there who can't afford very much and I felt that it was time to open the garden, but to keep it free. I reckon it is the best value for money in Jersey.

The garden has always been a unique place, catering for all the family!
