Beacons lit to celebrate Queen's 90th birthday

Beacons were lit throughout the islands last night to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

A fire took place at Fort Regent, where the Jersey Militia gave a canon salute.

Castle Cornet in Guernsey also had a beacon lit.

In Alderney around 100 people turned out for the lighting of a beacon on the Butes.

The Island Brass Band played Happy Birthday and God Save the Queen and town crier Robin Whicker led three cheers for the Duke of Normandy.

States of Alderney President Stuart Trought read out a message from the Prince of Wales and lit the gas beacon.
