A group of women scuba divers are hoping to raise more than £1,000 for charity at an event in Jersey today.

They join divers all over the world marking PADI Ladies Day, which hopes to get more women into the sport.

The Jersey group will be taking on an underwater course at Bouley Bay set out by an instructor, in aid of Meningitis Now.

Not many people are aware of Meningitis. It's a charity that people generally don't do work for, it's not very well know and also I think people misunderstand meningitis.

A lot of people associate it to just be with babies, whereas it affects everybody, so we're just trying to get that across to everyone, that it is a charity that needs help.

Last year the divers raised more than £1,200 for the Macmillan Fund and they hope to raise a similar amount of money this year.
