Guernsey 'could have its own university'

Guernsey could have its own university, according to the Isle of Man's Education Minister.

The other Crown Dependency already has an on-island university, accredited by the University of Chester.

Graham Creegen MHK says Guernsey should utilise its existing relationships with institutions to provide more degree level qualifications.

It follows calls from students at Guernsey's College of Further Education for a degree level creative course on the island.

In 2013 Guernsey's government gave its backing to build the University of the Channel Islands, but no moves have been made since.

Deputy Charles Parkinson says it's something that would benefit the whole island.
