Jersey captain Cav Miley has signed for National League side Eastleigh.

The St Paul’s midfielder made his debut in a 2-1 friendly win at AFC Stoneham last night, on the day he started training full-time with the Spitfires.

Eastleigh first team manager Richard Hill told the club’s website Miley had been recommended to him by former Jersey boss Brian Little.

Current Jersey manager Martin Cassidy said he does not see the 22-year-old representing the island again and has tipped him to emulate fellow Caesareans Brett Pitman and Peter Vincenti by playing at a higher level.

I believe he’s capable of going up the leagues. His form and reputation have grown in amateur football and people were contacting me on a regular basis about him. This one’s come about through contacts that we’ve got and networking that we’ve done, and he’s taken the opportunity and we all wish him really well. He’s got to where he has training once or twice a week, but once he’s training full-time it’s going to be really beneficial. He can only get better and, barring injuries, I can see him going from strength to strength.
