Guernsey FC paid the price for missed opportunities as they were beaten 4-2 by Herne Bay at Footes Lane.
Tony Vance’s side, who were unchanged from last week, dominated the play in the first half, but fell behind when Herne Bay’s captain Jonathan Richardson headed in from a corner.
Dave Rihoy levelled things for the Green Lions with his fifth goal of the season soon after, but the visitors scored twice more from set plays after the break.
Guernsey got one back through a Ross Allen penalty before Herne Bay sealed it with a breakaway goal in stoppage time.
It is Guernsey’s first defeat in four matches and leaves them eighteenth in the Bostik South.
Two ways to sum it up. We didn't have the luck or weren't quite good enough in front of goal, because our approach play in the first half in particular was outstanding and we just didn't finish off those chances. And our inability to defend set pieces, and those two things have cost us what could have been a comfortable three points.
