Complaints by children in care a 'positive move forward'

The Director of Children's Social Work in Jersey says that complaints made by children in care show they feel confident enough to come forward with their concerns.

A recent FOI request revealed that over the past three years 20 formal complaints have been made by young people, with 11 being focused on concerns over staff behaviour.

Julie Gibney says that the rise in the number of complaints means that they can be thoroughly looked at, reviewed and appropriately addressed compared to previous years when complaints were low.
