'We'll have failed if there's no discrimination laws by the end of States term'
The President of Guernsey's Employment and Social Security Committee (ESS) says her Committee will have 'failed' if discrimination legislation isn't brought in by the end of this current States term.
ESS took over responsibility for the Disability and Inclusion Strategy in 2014 under the Machinery of Government reforms. Since then they say progress has been good, but has encountered difficulties surrounding resources, primarily human resources.
President of ESS, Deputy Michelle Le Clerc says the Disability and Inclusion Strategy is one of the highest priorities for the Commitee and progress has to be made in the next two years on the key workstreams, which are discrimination legislation and the creation of an equality and rights organisation.
