Jersey Police are warning of a new scam that is also circulating in the Isle of Man Credit: Yui Mok/PA Wire/PA Images

Jersey Police have issued warnings over a new scam that is also circulating in the Isle of Man.

Islanders are being contacted by fraudsters pretending to be from the Financial Crime Unit.

They call claiming to be looking into internal fraud at various banks involving staff.

They then ask for a payment into a 'safe' account that they have set up for them at the following banks:

  • Clydesdale Bank
  • Metro Bank
  • Halifax Bank

The fraudsters ask islanders not to reveal the reason of the payments to their banks, so as not to tip off staff involved in the fake investigation.

Our advice is not to give personal details of any kind to any persons or organisations, as they may be claiming to be something they are not. No legitimate bank will ever ask you for these details or to transfer money.
