Reducing the pay of a senior position in the States is the first move for Guernsey's new political group.
Fourteen deputies now make up the group calling themselves Charter 2018.
They are asking the States to reduce the pay for the position of President of the States Assembly and Constitution Committee.
The deputy carrying out this position is currently paid the same as other presidents of States committees.
Deputy Matt Fallaize was the former president of this committee but recently resigned after he took on the role as President of the Education Sport and Culture Committee.
Seven of the 14 deputies which make up Charter 2018 brought the proposal to the States.
They believe the duties and responsibilities carried out in the role do not warrant the higher salary and the position should be paid the same as 'ordinary deputies'.
