Campaigners petition to legalise assisted dying

Campaigners have started a petition calling for assisted dying laws to be introduced in Guernsey.

Politicians are set to debate the issue next month and those behind the petition hope it will show deputies "what the electorate think".

It will be delivered to States members in time for the debate.

Proposals to allow assisted dying have been criticised by the church but are supported by the island's Chief Minister.

Guernsey could become the first place in the British Isles to legalise the practice, if plans are approved.
