People in Jersey have the chance to get their hearts checked for free today as part of World Heart Rhythm Week.

The campaign is asking islanders to "take rhythm to heart" as irregular heart beats can be a sign of arrhythmia, a potentially fatal condition.

Cardiac nurses will be checking pulses and listening out for any irregular heart beats at the Grande Marché supermarket in St Helier until 6pm today.

A pharmacy team will also be on hand to check blood pressures.

Specialist Arrhythmia Nurse Kellyanne Kinsella says it is important people look out for signs if they think something is not right with their heart.
