Jersey author publishes first book to support Alzheimer's charity

A man from Jersey has published his first novel to raise money for an Alzheimer's charity.

Anthony Le Moignan wrote "The Long Goodbye" after his father Des Le Moignan passed away in January.

Des had been battling Alzheimer's for some time. 1,600 islanders currently live with the disease.

Proceeds from the book will help to support the Jersey Alzheimer's Association.

The charity's running costs are more than £300,000 each year, with States funding covering £14,500 of this total figure.

It is hoped "A Long Goodbye" will raise awareness of the disease on the island.

There will be a book signing at Waterstones on June 14th between 5pm - 8pm.

I want to do everything I can to enlighten people about this disease, the impact it has on families, and what we can do to help.

Currently, there is no cure. For now, we have to focus on providing those affected with proper care.
