The Rotary Club de la Manche is asking islanders to help spread some cheer in the lead up to Christmas this year by making up a shoebox for people in need.

The boxes will be transported to Albania, Moldova, Montenegro and Romania for distribution. Each year the club sends 1500 boxes to go to these destinations.

Islanders can make up a box for babies, young children, teenagers or include household goods. More information about what to include in a box can be found here.

Completed boxes can be delivered to Lloyds Bank, Broad Street until Friday 2nd November. The club also asks those donating to attach a £1 coin to the top of the box to cover transportation costs.

The smiles on the faces of the children receiving them have to be seen to be believed.
