Jersey's Serena Guthrie will captain England in their upcoming home series against Uganda.

The star centre, who has 84 caps for her country, has been named in a 12-strong Roses squad for the three matches.

England - reigning Commonwealth champions - are ranked second in the world behind Australia, while Uganda are seventh.

The opener takes place at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Tuesday 27 November, before the series moves to the Copper Box in London for games on Friday 30 and Sunday 2 December.

Guthrie has spent the last two domestic seasons in Australia but is returning to Superleague side Team Bath in 2019.

I think it’s going to be a really exciting series, Uganda are a really good up and coming African team and it’s going to be interesting to have them over for the three-match series. I’m excited to play as well in front of a home crowd as it’s been a while since we’ve been in front of our fans, so I’m hoping we’re going to have a big crowd there to support us.
