A painting by a Guernsey artist has just been sold at Sotheby's in London.

Peter Le Vasseur is thought to be the first artist from the island to have one of his paintings on sale at the international auction house.

His painting 'Tattooed Sailor' was originally sold for 90 guineas to the Duke of Bedford in the 1960s but this time sold for more than £6,000.

Peter is now exhibiting his latest collection, on the theme of conservation and ecology, at the Coach House Gallery.
