Guernsey's Maya Le Tissier says it was a "dream come true" to make her first appearance in professional football.

The 16-year-old defender started for Brighton & Hove Albion as they beat Crystal Palace 5-1 in the FA Continental Tyres League Cup on Wednesday night.

The result leaves Brighton second behind Chelsea in group one south with the top two progressing to the knockout stages.

Le Tissier is yet to make her league debut for the Women's Super League side but appeared in her first match day squad last month.

I've got to pinch my skin a few times because from being at college, to getting called up for the first team, to then play the full 90 minutes tonight, it's just a dream come true really. To play in the Conti Cup, it's just so good. I'm looking forward to working hard and hopefully the upcoming fixtures, I might be a part of, and, if not, keep on working extremely hard with the development squad and keep our season flowing.
