Jersey's States Assembly has adopted Constable Simon Crowcroft's amendment.
It means the new hospital will not be built on St Helier's green spaces.
These sites include:
- People's Park
- Lower Park
- Victoria Park
- Westmount Gardens
- Parade Gardens
The result saw 24 votes for, and 22 votes against the amendment.
The States will now consider Deputy Russell Labey's proposition to rescind a build next to the existing one at Gloucester Street.
