Litter in Channel Island waters will be the biggest talking point at a high-profile meeting today.

It's hoped the ministers will commit to reduce plastic waste from the fishing industry

Jersey's Environment Minister will join politicians from around the UK and Ireland for a joint summit at the University of Strathclyde today.

It is vital that Jersey joins the British-Irish Council's other members from sovereign governments, devolved institutions and crown dependencies to take further, collaborative action to tackle marine litter.

The meetings are expected to build on the outcomes of the 30th British-Irish Council Summit that was held in Guernsey in June 2018.
