A swimmer at St Brelade's Bay in Jersey has been rescued after getting into difficulty.
The Jersey Fire and Rescue Boat and the RNLI were called to save the woman at around 11:30 this morning.
She was seen struggling 100 metres south of the Wayside slipway by two other swimmers who called the emergency services.
The lady has since been taken to hospital after suffering the effects of hypothermia. The police say she is said to be an experienced swimmer but had difficulty in the low sea temperature whilst swimming alone.
The RNLI is reminding people not to swim on their own and if they see anyone in trouble to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
The advice is also to wear a wetsuit and a bright coloured hat for longer swims.
