British and American Pop Art on display in Jersey

Exhibition: ‘Pop Icons of the 20th Century’ Credit: ITV Channel TV

A display of British and American Pop Art will be on display at Sommerville House, St Helier.

The exhibition, ‘Pop Icons of the 20th Century’, will include works by Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, and more.

Pop art emerged in the mid 1950’s in Britain and late 1950’s in America.

It peaked in the 1960’s and became the classic, recognisable art form of the 20th century.

The collection of work which has never been displayed in the Channel Islands will preview this evening.

'Pop Icons of the 20th Century' opens daily from Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and at weekends by appointment until Saturday 30th March.

The exhibition will display artwork by:

  • Robert Indiana

  • Tom Wesselmann

  • Eduardo Paolozzi

  • Patrick Caulfield

  • Allen Jones

Pop paintings, prints and photography by Anthony Benjamin, Ceri Richards, Paul Jacoulet, Nick Parlett and Alexander James Hamilton, will be available.
