The first retail summit will be held in Jersey today.

It has been organised by the Chamber of Commerce and will bring together local shops, the government as well as leaders of British retail.

The aim of the event is to get a better understanding of retail trends and secure the sector on the island for the future.

The Chief of the British Retail Consortium, Helen Dickinson and the Chief Executive of JD Sports will give speeches at the summit.

Jersey's Economic Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham will also speak, just a week before the island's Retail Strategy is set to be released.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce has said the expertise of the guests speaking will be well received.

The retail knowledge and track record of success from these two leading retailers, will be invaluable to all who attend. The Chamber of Commerce has been representing retailers for two hundred and fifty one years, and our mission is to bring all relevant parties together to discuss and meet the challenges of the current retail climate for the benefit of Jersey.

– Eliot Lincoln, Jersey Chamber of Commerce President

The event is taking place at the Pomme d'Or Hotel.
