An offer has been made for a former WW2 coastal fort.

The prospective buyer wants to make changes to Fort Richmond and is seeking planning permission.

The World War Two coastal fort has lain empty for more than 30 years and has struggled to sell.

We are optimistic that a sale will be agreed. If this does result in a successful sale, it will of course be a matter of public record at that time.

– Mark Ogier, Head of Estates Strategy

The fort was originally built by as a gun battery by the British to keep out the French, but was then used by the Nazis in WWII.

After the war it was rented to a surf club, then to a Christian youth group before being left empty.
