90 homes at Hue Court in Jersey are going to be refurbished following an approved loan agreement by Jersey's Treasury Minister to Andium Homes.
Once the work is complete, the flats will be offered to Health and Community Services to help recruit and house more social workers in the island. This follows recommendations implemented for Andium Homes by the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry.
Existing residents are being found alternative housing, including at Plaisant Court.
The improvements will take around 74 weeks and will include both high-rise buildings. Sprinklers will be fitted in flats and public areas, while homes will receive new kitchens and bathrooms.
The buildings will also be getting new windows, a new roof, full rewiring, new plumbing and improved insulation. The work aims to reduce running costs in the future.
The first block of flats is set to be finished by December this year, while the second is set for completion in September 2020.
