Funding for the arts in Jersey should be increased by 50%, according to one Jersey politician.
Deputy Montfort Tadier is asking States members to consider allocating 1% of government spending to the arts, heritage and culture by 2022.
This compares to the current budget of 0.68 per cent, or £4,787,600.
The increase would also bring Jersey in line with the European Union average for cultural services expenditure.
States members will debate the proposition on April 30.
