Families planning to go on holiday this year are being warned about the risk of measles.

As part of World Immunisation Week doctors are encouraging people to make sure they are up to date with their vaccines before leaving Jersey.

It comes after a rise in measles cases in Europe. The total number of people infected with the virus last year was the highest this decade.

With our nearest neighbours, France and the UK, continuing to be measles hot spots, to avoid potentially major holiday complications I would urge anyone planning travel away from Jersey with unvaccinated family / group members to bear this in mind, and think about MMR vaccination status as part of holiday preparation. This is just as important for school trips as well as family and other holidays.
