Aurigny loses thousands due to Heathrow link

Guernsey's new air link to Heathrow has cost Aurigny £80,000 after the States-owned airline carried around 2,000 fewer passengers to London than expected last month.

Aurigny says their loss added to the £120,000 government subsidy to Flybe's Heathrow route has cost the island up to £200,000 in just one month.

The airline warned of "detrimental financial impact" when the new link was first introduced in March 2019, despite the President of the Economic Development committee, Deputy Charles Parkinson, assuring that the route would "help in the development of the Guernsey economy."
