Islanders to march for free bus travel in Jersey

Environmental campaigners led a march today to support free bus travel in Jersey.

Deputy Rob Ward has lodged a proposition to make taking the bus free for school children initially from September, then rolling the idea out to everyone in the island by 2020. It will be debated in the States today.

The aim is to encourage people to use public transport instead of their cars, and help Jersey to reach its 2030 carbon neutrality target.

The Extinction Rebellion Jersey group started the walk from the West Centre at 12:15pm and ended at the Royal Square.
