Infrastructure bosses in Jersey are warning it could be one of the worst years yet for sea lettuce.

Summer has only just started and the green slime is already having to be removed.

But environment teams say they have a plan to make sure it does not affect local businesses.

Quite early this year compared to last year, we think that's due to the warm temperatures over the winter, so what we've tried to do is attack it as soon as it's appeared.

We've carried out six collections over the past couple of weeks, and so far we've removed 165 tonnes of green sea lettuce.

Sea lettuce has been a problem in Jersey for many years, and is caused by nitrogen levels in the sea.
