The findings of an investigation into alleged water pollution in a Jersey marina have been handed to the Attorney General.

Environmental Protection Officers have been looking into possible pollution at Elizabeth Marina in St Helier since March.

It follows claims from campaigners that heavy metals, collected at the Horizon development building site following high spring tides, were then drained back into the sea.

280 apartments are due to be built on the site.

The risk was that it was going to kill all the wildlife in the marina as the tide went out it would flow out into the small roads and potentially round the South East coast which is one of Jersey's four RAMSAR sites.

Law officers will now consider the case, and it will be up to the Attorney General to decide whether or not to bring criminal charges.

We contacted the States of Jersey Development Company and they said they cannot comment while there is an ongoing investigation.

The construction firm who is building the apartments Legendre Group has not responded to media requests from ITV Channel.
