Jersey politicians could be given thousands of pounds in allowances as well as a pay rise.

A report suggests that the Chief Minister should be given an allowance of £15,000 per year and Ministers and heads of scrutiny panels £7,500 per year.

This comes on top of a pay rise from £46,600 a year to £48,000 from next year and then to £50,000 per year from June 2022.

The report from the independent States Members Remuneration Review Body says this would be the first increase in pay for States Members since 2014.

The Review Body has also recommended the introduction of a pension scheme for States Members.

Members will debate these changes in the States.
