£845,000 will be spent on choosing the site for Jerseys's new hospital.
In total £2.6 million will be allocated to the first stage of the process, with a further £4.8 million for the second phase according to a report by Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré.
The first stage will include site selection, while the second phase will be outlined in a further report for Ministers and the Assembly in 2020.
In his report to the States Assembly on 3 May, the Chief Minister said:
The proposed timeline is ambitious, but if we all get behind the process it should be possible to deliver this within 20 months. If we all agree that this is a priority and work together, we can then deliver a completed hospital in a similar timescale to that of the previous scheme.
