The Battle of Flowers 2019 begins later with people coming together to celebrate the annual festival in Jersey.

The Grand Parade takes place from 2:30pm and floats will travel down Victoria Avenue showing off a year's worth of hard work to build them.

The aim is to win the best prize of the day, the Prix D’Honneur.

Last year's winner was The Optimists Club for its In Flanders Fiels float, which marked the centenary of the end of the First World War.

Despite being in the height of summer, weather forecasters are concerned it might be a wet Battle, with periods of heavy rain and maybe even thundery spells to be expected.

For information on the forecast, see our Battle weather guide.

The Moonlight Parade is scheduled to take place at 9pm on Friday evening.

It will have the same floats from Thursday parading down Victoria Avenue but they will be lit up with fairy lights.

Then the climax of Battle 2019 will be followed by a fireworks display of St Aubin's Bay.
