The 68-year-old victim of a suspected stabbing in Jersey has been named as Pamela Margaret Nisbet.

Armed officers from Jersey Police were called to the address in St Peter at 6:56pm on Tuesday 6 August and arrested a 40-year-old man.

The victim was taken to hospital but died of her wounds.

The man is being held in police custody and a murder investigation has been launched.

The police say the man was known to Mrs Nisbet and her family have been informed.

The property in St Peter will be subject to further forensic examination.

Meanwhile a pathologist from the Home Office will be on island tomorrow to conduct a post-mortem examination.
